Trying to be normal

Hi dear friends thank you for all your kind comments they have really cheered me up no end ,i am so lucky to have such good friends. Dave has an appointment with the speech therapist tomorrow to learn some exercises before his chemo starts and he has to learn to swallow as the treatment gets underway. Well life goes on as they say so on that note i will continue to blog as normal and add bits about Dave as needs be so i hope my blog is not too depressing and you will still visit and may be leave a message as i do love to hear from you. Do you remember a while back i said i have had a new kitchen well i thought its about time i shared it with you as i have not done much crafting lately. I apologise for the poor quality of the photos but i am not very good with the camera.Where the first window on the left and the start of the cupboard with the glass doors there was a wall which we knocked down, behind it was a small utility room and we decided to do away with it and it has made the kitchen look so much bigger we only gained about two square meters. The larder unit and corner cupboard where cut in half so that we had more floor space and because i am quite short it means i can reach to the back shelves, a kitchen designed by me for me

This is my comode chair, every one laughs when i tell them what it is i brought it at a car boot sale for £5.00 years ago and DH filled it in and it is now where i keep my linens i really love this chair and the fact it is good for storage is fab the words on the cushion say home is where your story begins i took this saying off a tin.

There are still a few things that need tweaking like the tiles around the cooker need changing but i am not ready for any more mess just now.My cooker was cream which just does not go with red and white so out came the spray paint and voila a red cooker, believe me i had too think long and hard but i was quite pleased with the out come.

It did not stop there,i sprayed just about every thing, the trug the jug and the bucket along with other bits and bobs .

All my cookery books ,plus a few more since these pictures where taken well i hope you have enjoyed a tour of my new kitchen have a good weekend and lets hope for some more sunshine .

HUGS PAT.

oooh! It's so country chic! I love it. The cooker looks FANTASTIC and the curtains are great. I need to finish some curtains for our kitchen, but just can't figure out what I want.
Also, what's a "car boot sale"?

Hello Pat,i am so in love with your posh new kitchen, and your fabric is lovely that you have used on your curtains and sweet cushions.A very brave thing to spray your cooker but it looks stunning! (what sort of paint did you use?) i have a freezer that could do with a good paint makeover.. love and hugs jackanne xx

Hi Pat.

My heart really goes out to you and your family at this time. I really hope that you all get through it stronger and more closer than ever before.

I love your new kitchen. It really is lovely. A lot of hard work has gone into that I am sure. I just love red. Even when I am not conciously thinking of the colour it sneaks into my colour schemes when i am not looking.

Take care sending big hugs (()))

Hello Pat -

I was truly saddened to read the last post - I am holding you & your family in my thoughts.

Weston Park is a really good centre & the treatment suite is lovely - I spent some time training in chemo there myself & the care is excellent.

There is a lovely cafe across the road in Weston Park Museum - so pop out for a breather if you can.

Loving the kitchen! White is my favourite colour for a kitchen & the accents of red are lovely.

take care of yourself.

Love Lydia

Hi Pat, Sorry but i can't meet up with you next week, but I have taken a couple of days off work to go camping (hoping the weather changes again!!). However I would love to meet up with you sometime. I finish work at 3pm, and I can drive over to your neck of the woods after work and meet up, or I can make it on some weekends (Bawtry is appealing on a weekend!!). Let me know. I presume you are going to Weston Park Hospital. Parking is a pain around there, so you do right to get there early. Weston Park Museum and park is across the road from the hospital. The museum is nice and not stuffy. I think you would like it (especially if it rains!) It also has a good cafe. The area of Broomhill is just up the road and has some lovely cafes and shops. Our favourite shop is the independent record shop. Hubby and I spend a lot of time in here (its like memory lane!). Last time, I came out with a CD by "The Sweet" - I was 15 again!! Email me, diane008@btinternet.com

Lots of love

Hello Pat, I want to tell you that I hope all goes well for your husband and I know it is a difficult time for your family. Needlework is soothing to women. Many stitches were worked through trials of different sorts.
I love a white kitchen. Yours is so bright and cheery. Now that I have shown you my sewing drawer (the messy one) show me yours!!

Oh Pat I am so sorry to hear your news too .... it's just not fair is it and thank you for leaving such a lovely comment on my blog about the little one. Your kitchen is beautiful .... I love the white & red but it would never work in my house .... too many animals and small people to make a mess! Take care both of you x

Pat, I'm sorry to hear your sad news. My mum had ovarian cancer a few years ago, it was a bit shocking to see her lose her hair so quickly, but the chemo and raditherapy weren't quite as traumatic for her as I thought it was going to be. My thoughts are with you and your family.

I love your kitchen, it looks fantastic, red is the colour for my kitchen too, it is such a nice striking colour!

Also thank you for the lovely comment on my blog.

Your kitchen looks amazing and it's great how everything matches - well done you. Sorry to hear about your DH , my mam was diagnosed a few years ago and she said what helped the most through all her treatments was all of us being strong and not giving up on her. HUgs x

hi, came across your blog tonight randomly.
Your kitchen is lovely! I love the red and white.
Prayers and well wishes for your husband's recovery. I hope his round of chemo goes well for him. I'm sure it's tough from what I've seen. (My mother in law has been battling leukemia for quite some time now.)

Hi Pat!

Thank you for stopping by. I just seem to not go through blogs much; life just gets busy, I guess. I only have two kids, the first picture is of Matthew two years ago (it fit with my "Karate boy" part of the story so I put it in), the second time you see Matthew was yesterday (he just got a hair cut today so doesn't look as "fluffy" any more).

I am so sorry to hear about your husband's illness. Oh dear, we do take things and people for granted, don't we? And then they get threatend and it just feels like the bottom falls out. I am glad your sister will be there for you to drive you around.

I do love your kitchen; many yummy treats will be filling your home with delightful smells and helping to lift everyone's spirits!

Thank you for letting us into the private corner of your life! My prayers will be with you.

Hi Pat!

Thank you for coming over to meet my bear. I named her after Leisel from the Sound of Music. I actually thought of you the whole time I was working on her and wanted a name that sounded English, and since I never travel I don't have a working understanding of other places. Therefore using a name from Vienna still felt English to me, but I thought "Merriweather" was definitely English sounding and therefore would do you proud!

I hope you are doing well and your husband remaining as comfortable as possible.

I do love the bits of red so nicely scattered through the kitchen. It really does catch the eye. And I had to laugh at our commode chair - nice adaptive reuse! I do love it when new stores spaces present themselves.

Such a shame you couldn't get along to the Festival of Quilts, but understandable. I hope hubby is feeling OK after his chemo - it's not the nicest of stuff, but necessary.
